About Project
Waterloo Public Library (WPL) was faced with significant challenges with their existing website, which lacked flexibility and accessibility, had a clunky and visually unappealing design, and buried critical information, making it difficult for both users to find what they needed. WPL turned to us to create a new website that would improve usability and create a more engaging digital experience, while also ensuring easy access to updates and maintenance by their team to accommodate the ever-evolving nature of their content and services.
To address these challenges, we built a custom WordPress website to replace their previous Drupal-based site. The new website is ultra-accessible, on mobile and desktop, incorporating the UserWay plugin for enhanced accessibility. Additionally, we integrated their previously separate blog into the main website, creating a unified digital presence. The project followed a comprehensive process, including discovery and strategy setting, AODA-compliant design, and development that seamlessly integrated the catalog and events calendar.
The final product was well-received by both the client and their users. Though we don’t have official metrics, the client reported that the site has been in use for over a month with plenty of positive feedback. They also noted that the new site is much easier for their team to manage on the back-end compared to their old site, highlighting the success of our approach in making the website easier to manage.
