Season 4 of Science Will Win tackles the question: What challenges did science have to overcome to bring us where we are today, in the midst of an AI revolution in medicine? Artificial intelligence has the potential to help save millions of lives by accelerating the discovery and development of treatments for humanity’s toughest diseases. Those AI innovations come down to three key factors: data, hardware, and software. This season takes listeners on a journey back in time to learn how each of these three elements got where it is today.

Science Will Win is hosted by tech investor and AI thought leader Jeremiah Owyang, who is currently a general partner at Blitzscaling Ventures and is frequently quoted in outlets like The New Yorker, Forbes, and Fast Company. And each episode features interviews with historians and cutting-edge researchers, framing these deep historical dives within modern advancements in medical technology. From the historical serendipity of medical breakthroughs to today’s data-driven landscape, they delve into the rise of "omics" and single-cell sequencing, the critical role of computational resources, and the evolution of AI-powered software. Through insightful conversations guided by host Jeremiah Owyang, the season reveals how these innovations are revolutionizing drug development and offers a glimpse into the exciting possibilities ahead in the quest for new medicines.

To effectively engage the general public, science enthusiasts, healthcare professionals and techies, we devised a unique episode format that brought listeners in with cold opens filled with creative sound design and narrative storytelling. This let the audience feel like they were back in the time frame of that featured episode before diving into interviews with experts. To ensure a holistic understanding of the research, challenges, and opportunities for AI in medicine, Pfizer and Wonder Media Network brought together a myriad of voices from AI and drug development – historians, data scientists, researchers, and AI experts.

Additionally, building on the success of SWW, we decided to take the show on the road, hosting a takeover of SXSW's Podcast Lounge in both 2024 and 2025. During these live events, we curated engaging panel discussions on topics similar to our podcast seasons, as well as other relevant healthcare and innovation themes. These interactive sessions allowed us to promote the podcast to a new subset of listeners while also providing a platform to share our expertise and thought leadership with the SXSW audience.

Science Will Win hit over 2 million downloads with this latest season, marking a huge milestone for the podcast. And promotion of the podcast’s fourth season resulted in a 25% increase in average downloads per episode from the previous season. These strong results were a combination of paid media, activating a multi-channel amplification approach and leveraged research and insights to guide our strategy and channel usage.
