About Project
Peel Regional Police needed a website refresh. The service's old website was not responsive on all electronic devices, such as phones and tablets, content was difficult to navigate and find, and the site could not keep up with emerging online communications demands such as online fillable forms, interactive calendars and automated emergency alerts or communication techniques to reach residents and all stakeholders.
eSolutionsGroup began a thorough engagement process to develop a sitemap that was reflective of the information the Peel Regional Police wanted to convey throughout the site. The sitemap focus group involved dozens of stakeholders to identify what was important. This was attended by the web committee, the board, an accessibility committee, and other stakeholders such as citizens, customer service and more.
eSolutionsGroup also launched a three-hour Writing for the Web workshop which outlined to attendees the many ways that writing for the web is different from normal essay writing, report writing, or writing in print. The site's content is now far more accessible and straightforward, providing users with easy to read information that communicates important information about the police service.
eSolutions integrated modules that fit seamlessly in the brand new i:Create content management system (CMS). These modules include a calendar, news and activities page, photo galleries and contact module and staff directory page. The CMS lets staff members update content easily and without frustration due to its intuitive, back-end user interface. The news tool allows for photo and video integration, allowing this crucial service to communicate all kinds of media in press releases, newsletters and more, concerning crime, public engagement initiatives and recruiting efforts.
Citizens are able to make a report online concerning damage to property, damage to vehicles, driving complaints, lost property, theft and theft from vehicles.
The site also uses a powerful and accurate Cludo search function, which scans the site for relevant information and content.
Peel Regional Police are able to create unique and original page layouts with eSolutions' Layout Builder function. This lets staff create fun and interesting content that mixes charts, pictures, copy and more in all sorts of different ways on the page.
The site meets WCAG 2.0 and AODA standards for accessibility as well.
With this new online tool, Peel Regional Police are poised to continue to provide excellent service through its vision of 'A Safer Community Together' and more than 2,000 police officers and 800 civilian employees. Peel Regional Police is the third largest police force in Ontario and serves the Region of Peel, which has over 1.4 million residents.
