About Project

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Resolution Management, Diversity & Inclusion (ORMDI) advances an inclusive environment that values and supports the diverse communities VA serves—employees, Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors—and cultivates equitable access to care, benefits, and services for all. With the release of Executive Orders 13985 and 14035 and other related Orders, and amidst growing social unrest, VA has a unique and meaningful opportunity. That opportunity is not only to identify and eliminate institutional barriers to equity at VA, but to proactively develop, enhance, and deliver agency-wide practices that will put the Department at the forefront of the federal movement to ensure inclusion, diversity, equity, and access to underserved and otherwise marginalized communities. To demonstrate commitment to this goal and weave these principles into the very fabric of the Department, VA launched an enterprise-wide initiative: I*DEA. The I*DEA brand is big and bold—designed to capture the hearts and minds of the VA employees and Veterans who will play a critical role in shaping a culture rooted in these ideals. A culture where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and has access to the care, benefits, and opportunities they need to thrive.
The brand mark represents the heart and soul of the I*DEA brand—it is a promise to Veterans, VA employees, and the American public. In developing this mark, Titan Alpha deconstructed the I*DEA initiative to conceive a visually subtle yet deeply meaningful symbol: an asterisk shaped as an awareness ribbon. In writing, an asterisk is used to mark text—typically as a reference to an annotation or to stand for censored or omitted content. When used as the I*DEA brand mark and included in the logo, what traditionally represents an afterthought becomes embedded in and central to the message. In the logo, the asterisk represents historically underserved and marginalized communities. It represents the celebration of difference and signifies conscious inclusion. The faceted center of the asterisk evokes a kaleidoscope—the multicolored, vibrant, ever-shifting, fluid spectrum of human diversity. And the I*DEA awareness ribbon raises awareness and shows support for inclusion, diversity, equity, and access at VA.
The animated I*DEA logo brings these values to life, introducing the audience to the I*DEA brand. The animation stands alone—as a brief video supplementing internal communications and resources—and is designed to be used without the voiceover as the intro to I*DEA videos.
