About Project
What Are We Doing Here?! is a dynamic monthly podcast produced by the Visit Santa Rosa team, a program of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber. This storytelling series goes beyond traditional destination marketing to shine a spotlight on the people, places, and partnerships that make Santa Rosa and Sonoma County an exceptional place to live, work, and visit.
Each episode dives into the heart of our community through engaging conversations with tourism partners, business leaders, event organizers, and innovators shaping the region’s cultural, culinary, and economic landscape. From discussions about iconic local events and sustainable travel to deep dives into food and drink experiences and creative community collaborations, What Are We Doing Here?! brings listeners behind the scenes of what’s happening in our vibrant destination and why it matters.
Produced by Visit Santa Rosa’s marketing and communications team, the podcast amplifies the voices of tourism partners and highlights stories that elevate Santa Rosa as a must-visit destination while building deeper connection and pride within our community. It serves not only as an informational resource but also as a platform to celebrate diverse experiences and spark curiosity among locals, visitors, and industry stakeholders alike.
Whether shared through radio broadcast, online audio platforms, or social media highlights, What Are We Doing Here?! exemplifies creative storytelling that strengthens community bonds and expands awareness of Santa Rosa’s unique offerings in tourism, business, and culture.
In addition to the innovative storytelling format, What Are We Doing Here?! represents a first‑of‑its‑kind media collaboration in Sonoma County. To expand the impact of traditional radio and reach broader audiences, Visit Santa Rosa partnered with Wine Country Radio and local creative agency Fours Media to bring a fresh, multimedia approach to the show. Each recording session is filmed on‑site at the radio station, allowing the Visit Santa Rosa team to transform every episode into a suite of short‑form videos optimized for social media. These clips highlight key moments, extend the life of the content, and drive listeners to the full broadcast — creating a dynamic cross‑platform experience. Wine Country Radio had never opened its studio to video production before, making this a groundbreaking partnership that reimagines how radio, digital marketing, and destination storytelling can work together to reach and engage more people.
The name What Are We Doing Here?! was intentionally chosen to spark curiosity and shine a light on the true breadth of work happening behind the scenes at the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber. Since its founding in 1906, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in shaping economic development, workforce initiatives, advocacy, tourism promotion, and community vitality — yet much of this impact often goes unnoticed by the broader public. Many community members think of chambers of commerce primarily as networking groups or hosts of mixers, but the Chamber’s legacy and ongoing work extend far beyond that.
The podcast title serves as a bold, conversation‑starting prompt that invites listeners to explore the “why” and “how” behind the Chamber’s efforts: What are we doing here? Why does it matter? Who benefits? Each episode helps illuminate the wide range of programs, partnerships, and initiatives that contribute to the economic and cultural health of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County. By giving voice to the people driving this work, the podcast acts as a transparent, accessible platform that deepens community understanding of the Chamber’s leadership and longstanding commitment to regional prosperity.
