About Project

Sofia Crespo’s “Structures of Being is an AI-powered audiovisual masterpiece designed to be projected on the historic façade of Casa Batlló, a UNESCO World Heritage Site by Antoni Gaudí. The event drew an unprecedented audience of 95,000 over two nights, making it the most attended projection mapping event at the monument.
“Structures of Being” immersed the audience in the nature contained inside Casa Batlló and Gaudí’s creative universe. The artwork was created with the help of artificial intelligence and data on marine currents provided by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. The musical soundtrack, recorded at Palau de la Música Catalana, featured local performers such as organist Juan de la Rubia and the Cosmos Quartet.
The event opened Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world’s largest trade fair for audiovisual systems, and coincided with the 200th anniversary of Paseo de Gracia and the Festival Llum BCN 2024. As part of The Heritage of Tomorrow program, Casa Batlló invited Crespo to create new artworks inspired by Gaudí’s work, thereby propelling his legacy into the future.
