We are excited to submit our entry for the Event Marketing award, which showcases our collaboration with Innovate UK KTN for the KTP Awards 2022. The KTP Awards are an annual celebration of the partnerships between UK businesses, academics, and graduates that have led to innovative solutions and created a lasting impact. Innovate UK KTN approached Carswell Gould's team of integrated marketing specialists with an open brief for the event, and we knew that we had to design an experience that reflected the organisation's ethos of innovation and collaboration. We worked tirelessly to create an innovative and collaborative event that celebrated the achievements of the past year and showcased the partnerships between UK businesses, academics, and graduates. The event was a huge success, and we are thrilled to have been a part of such a meaningful celebration of innovation and collaboration in the UK.
Innovate UK KTN is a hub for connecting innovators with big ideas to new partners, whilst opening the door to opportunities and driving positive change in the world. Focusing on innovation and connecting people, KTN’s work accelerates ambitious ideas into real-world solutions.
Innovate UK KTN brings together a wealth of networks, knowledge, and resources to accelerate change across sectors, ranging from manufacturing and engineering to healthcare and energy.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme is a catalyst for collaboration and change, one connection at a time. Its mission is to inspire and enable innovators to create solutions that address the world’s most pressing challenges, including climate change and health.
The client gave us free rein to explore our creativity in designing the awards event, with the only guidance being the gold and black colour theme.
Our event and marketing team scoped a plan for the KTP Awards with the key objectives to:
– Design a unique style for the event to suit the look and feel of the awards.
– Create event visual elements to maintain a high engagement and maintain momentum.
– Provide the opportunity for each award winner and their KTP innovation to be put in the spotlight.
OUR STRATEGY AND TACTICS, INCLUDING VISUAL ELEMENTS:
To ensure the KTP Awards were a dynamic, attention-grabbing and memorable event, Carswell Gould implemented the following elements:
– We tailored a unique experience and graphics package for its audience – both for those attending online and in-person. The broadcasted event featured opening teaser videos, speaker introductions, category names and winner announcements, all displayed with stunning visual effects.
– Leveraged our creative skills to transform the KTP brand visual identity from a simple logo and two colours to an all-encompassing event identity. We highlighted the three-part KTP partnerships and integrated this with the triangular logo throughout all the event branding.
– Created upbeat animations that maintained a sense of energy and excitement for the entirety of the event, even during transitions of speakers.
– Video content was developed to allow the winners to showcase their KTP solutions to a wider audience and explored what made each innovation special. More importantly, each KTP entry got a moment of recognition for their work.
– Employed a unique hybrid approach that successfully captured the essence of both in-person and virtual events. We implemented innovative technologies to frame the Awards, making it stand out from other hybrid events and leaving a lasting impression on all.
– Collaboration and effective communication were key components in the success of the project, given the tight deadline. The team had to work closely with multiple teams to gain an understanding of the event's tone. This was crucial to ensure that the outcome accurately reflected the vision and theme.
THE RESULTS – ENGAGEMENT AND EVALUATION
We brought together more university students, innovators and partners than ever before to the Innovate UK KTP Awards in 2022.
This unique hybrid event was unlike any other, with its pioneering approach to keep both attendees watching from home and those attending in-person engaged throughout.
The KTP Awards worked with the power of technology and animations to create an immersive experience, and pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the world of events. The Awards not only provided an unforgettable event for all who attended, but also set a high bar for future events to come.
The virtual streaming format, which was hosted on YouTube received over 1,200 views, making it one of the most widely watched KTN events of its kind.
