About Project
Santa Rosa is home to a beloved collection of Peanuts character sculptures — a lasting tribute to Charles M. Schulz, the legendary creator of the Peanuts comic strip who lived and worked in Sonoma County for over 30 years. The Peanuts on Parade Statues Map is an interactive digital experience designed and produced by the Visit Santa Rosa team to showcase these whimsical public art installations scattered throughout Santa Rosa and greater Sonoma County.
This project was created to replace outdated printed collateral — an old PDF map — by updating and confirming the locations of all statues and plotting them on an easy-to-use interactive map. Users can now reliably track down more than 100 unique statues, including Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Woodstock, Lucy, and other beloved characters, turning a self-guided scavenger hunt into a celebration of art, nostalgia, and community pride.
More than just a list of locations, the interactive map encourages exploration of Santa Rosa’s cultural landscape. Visitors can take the map on the go, uncover stories behind each sculpture, and experience the city one character at a time — blending creativity, tourism, and local heritage into an accessible, shareable digital tool.
The Peanuts on Parade Statues Map not only preserves and modernizes Santa Rosa’s public art resources but also amplifies the city’s identity as a destination rich in cultural connection, inviting fans from around the world to engage with the legacy of Peanuts and Charles M. Schulz.
This project was made possible through a unique partnership between Visit Santa Rosa, the Charles M. Schulz Museum, and the City of Santa Rosa — the first time all three organizations collaborated to create a unified, publicly accessible digital tool dedicated to the Peanuts statues. Each partner contributed critical insight: the Schulz Museum provided historical context and legacy knowledge, the City supported verification of publicly placed installations, and Visit Santa Rosa led digital development and user experience design. This collaboration ensured accuracy, accessibility, and authenticity, transforming a beloved local tradition into a modern, interactive experience that can grow and evolve for years to come.
