The NY State of Health mobile app helps people who receive healthcare benefits through the NY State of Health Marketplace manage their coverage in an easy-to-understand, self-service environment.

Finding and maintaining healthcare is daunting. NY State of Health partnered with Maximus to create an app that streamlined the paperwork-heavy process of applying for and managing healthcare plans. The mobile app offers New Yorkers an easier way to complete the tasks needed to get and keep affordable healthcare.

The app enables users to submit supporting documents by simply taking pictures rather than relying on physical mail, in-person appointments, or computers and fax machines. To ensure the upload process is as secure as it is convenient, Maximus added layers of security for consumer’s personal information and multi-factor authentication.

The app also offers users:
• An overview of account eligibility and enrollment and health plan details
• Access to their profile, account updates, and important notification
• SMS texting to notify users when the documents they submit through the app are successfully processed
• Access important information in English or Spanish

Since the app’s initial launch in 2019, it has:

• Securely processed more than 800,000 documents
• Received 350,000 downloads
• Earned a 4.8-star Google app store rating and a 4.7-star Apple app store rating
• Inspired more than 10,000 ratings

With the NY mobile app, people have access to their healthcare anytime, anywhere, on their personal smart phones and tablets.

The app continues to evolve to ensure that healthcare works for each person, so they don’t have to work too hard for their healthcare.
