About Project
The Client Situation
CPPI is a full-service construction management firm with more than 200 employees across several offices in the Southeast. Frankel first worked with CPPI a decade ago, when the company was a fraction of its current size. In the years since, CPPI has expanded geographically, in expertise, and in the complexity of projects they take on, from hospitals and schools to government facilities and sports venues. Their brand had not kept pace. They returned to Frankel to evolve it.
The Challenge
In the construction industry, differentiation is difficult. Companies tend to lean on the same language—experience, safety, on time and on budget—until it all becomes noise. CPPI needed a brand that could reflect their true scale and ambition while staying rooted in who they actually are: a team of people who bring uncommon dedication to every project they take on.
Our Approach
We started where we always do, with research. Through conversations with employees, leadership, and partners across departments and offices, we went looking for the truth that only CPPI could own. What we found was a company defined by two things working in concert: the horsepower to take on the most complex, demanding projects, and a genuine heart for the communities and people those buildings serve.
That insight became the brand's foundation: "Horsepower and Heart."
From there, we developed a bold, no-nonsense verbal identity. CPPI's new brand voice is direct, fearless, and conviction-driven which reflects the way they actually work. We created "Building Blocks," a set of guiding phrases that helped the internal team understand not just what the brand says, but how it thinks and communicates. Phrases like "More Than Concrete and Steel" and "Do What You Say. Talk When It's Done" gave the team a voice they could recognize as their own.
The visual identity translated that energy into form. A deep navy conveys strength and professionalism. A bold green signals growth and commitment. Clean white provides clarity and balance. Typography is strong and unambiguous. The overall system is designed to stand out in an industry that rarely does.
