VNS Health is a nonprofit home and community-based health care organization that serves some of New York City’s most vulnerable people. The organization employs nearly 10,000 nurses, social workers, rehab therapists, hospice workers, home health aides and other clinicians. During the height of the pandemic, these people risked their lives daily to provide care to New Yorkers in their homes. On any given day, the organization provides, skilled care and health information, including treatment from behavioral health experts, to more than 43,000 people across the five boroughs, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties. While these clinicians do amazing and heroic things every day (global pandemic or not!) they don’t consider themselves heroes. For them it is “all in a day’s work”.
