The Aspire Group co-founded the inaugural USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championships in 2021. Sanctioned by USA Rugby and its Collegiate Council, the event was the first of its kind, serving as the official 2022 national championship tournament for both men’s and women’s collegiate 7s teams. The event brought together nearly 1,000 athletes from more than 60 teams to compete in over 100 games across two days of intense competition, with 6 champions crowned at the end of the exciting weekend. With teams representing institutions all across the US, the Championships were broadcast live on NBC and CNBC with additional coverage streamed on Peacock.

In addition to Aspire’s event operations and ticket sales responsibilities, Aspire’s marketing team developed social and design strategy for the event, generating more than 250K website views, 800K social media impressions, and 1.2M live broadcast viewers. Starting from the ground up, Aspire helped build a unique brand presence that resonated with the tight-knit club and collegiate rugby community, while also speaking to regional sports and leisure seekers unfamiliar with the sport. Forming connections with expat and interest groups in the surrounding area led to an authentically international atmosphere that welcomed 13,000+ fans throughout the weekend.

During the tournament itself, Aspire’s ability to quickly create enjoyable and informative content led to massive engagement increases, with followership up ~71% during the two day event.
